Timed Lock Box
7 Reasons Willpower Loses to a Vape You Can Still Reach
Mindsight · 6 min read
A vape in reach asks the same question all day. Just one. The Timed Lock Box is a way to answer it earlier. Put the vape in, set a time from 1 minute to 30 days, and the lid stays shut until that time ends, unless you chose a mode with an override code.
This is a lock with a timer. It is not a medical device, and it is not a quit program.
“Just one” is a decision you have to win every time. Every time the vape is in reach.
Just one. You had a long day. Nobody will notice. You can win that argument once. You have to win it every time the thing is in a pocket, a bag, or on the counter.
Reason 2
A drawer opens the moment you want it to. A drawer is a suggestion.
If you can open it whenever the urge shows up, you will, at least some of the time. The lock box opens on a timer you set before that urge, not during it.
Reason 3
Another room only works until you walk there. The walk is about a minute.
Leaving it in the other room is friction. Friction loses to a specific urge. A lid does not get bored and come back.
Reason 4
The urge shows up when the decision is worst. After a meeting. In the car. At the end of the day.
That is a bad moment to renegotiate a rule you made when you were fine. The box has already had the argument.
Reason 5
The gap can be chosen earlier. An hour, a workday, or up to 30 days.
You set the time while you still mean it. A timer that is already running cannot be made longer. You can read the time remaining. You cannot add to it.
Reason 6
Standard still opens early. Fortress does not. Fortress has no code in the box.
Standard opens when the timer ends, or earlier with the override code that comes with the box. Fortress has nothing in the box to talk yourself into using. Support can send a one-time code for a real emergency or a mistake.
Reason 7
The lid does not remove the urge. It stays shut until the time you set.
This is a lock with a timer. It is not a medical device, and it is not a quit program. It does not measure whether anyone cut down. It makes the vape inaccessible until the mode you picked says the lid can open.
How the lock works
You pick the time. The lid keeps it.
There are no outcome numbers on this page. A lock box does not measure whether anyone quit, cut down, or felt better. These are the limits of the product itself.
30 daysThe longest timer
You can set anything from 1 minute up to 30 days. Once a timer is running, it cannot be extended.
3 modesHow easy it is to open early
Lockbox Only opens with the code whenever you want. Standard opens early with that same code. Fortress has no code in the box.
0 codesIncluded with Fortress
Nothing in the box opens it early. Support can send a one-time code for a real emergency or a mistake.
These are limits of the product, not results. A lock box does not measure whether anyone quit, cut down, or felt better.

Questions, answered
Before you lock it.
No. This is a lock with a timer. It is not a medical device, and it is not a quit program. It makes a vape inaccessible until the time you set. It does not treat nicotine dependence.
A vape, pods, and a charger, with room left for a phone. The Standard interior is 8″ × 2.75″ × 4.75″. Plus is the larger Charcoal box.
Lockbox Only and Standard: yes. The box comes with an override code. Fortress: no code is in the box. For a genuine emergency or a mistake, contact support and we can send a one-time code. On lockboxes sold after June 1, 2025, that code changes with every new Fortress cycle. You can also ask us to block override codes for your email.
After you start a timer, the screen blinks for 15 seconds. Press any button in that window to cancel. After that, Lockbox Only and Standard open with your override code. Fortress stays shut until the timer ends. You can't extend a running timer.
Anywhere from 1 minute to 30 days.
Yes. A charging cable can pass through while the lid is locked.
Removing the batteries does not reset the countdown. The timer stays in place until it finishes. Two AA batteries, included, last about 4–6 months.
